First - Aid

Employers must provide suitable first-aid equipment, facilities, and personnel to enable immediate assistance to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. In order to provide first aid to injured or ill employees, first aiders must have a valid certificate of competence in first aid at work (FAW) or emergency first aid at work (EFAW).

Fire Safety

Employers must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and ensure safe escape for both employees and visitors. They must:

  • Ensure all employees are provided with adequate safety training at the time they are first employed and on being exposed to new and increased risks.

  • Appoint one or more ‘competent persons’ to assist with fire safety in the workplace, and provide them with sufficient training to remain effective in reducing the risks from fire hazards.

Manual Handling

Manual handling injuries are the main cause of lost working days. These occur due to sprains and strains resulting from the incorrect lifting and movement of objects.

Safety 4 U offers 2 manual handling qualifications, which ensure regulatory compliance and minimise the potential costs that can be incurred from work-related lifting injuries.

Health & Safety

Employers must provide information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure the health and safety at work of their employees. In certain situations, health and safety training is particularly important, e.g. when people start work, on exposure to new or increased risks and where existing skills may have become rusty or need updating.

Food Safety

UK food hygiene regulations require caterers to have food hygiene training or be closely supervised and instructed by someone who does. The training you need depends on both the type of food you handle and whether you supervise others. By law, you also need HACCP training if you are responsible for developing or maintaining an FSMS (Food Safety Management System).
